Great Southern Access was contracted to complete a range of remedial tasks via rope access to the ship loaders on Berth 3 of the Albany Port facility.

Works completed include:

  • Corrosion remediation and Industrial coating application.

Through the use of pneumatic tooling and dry ice blasting heavy corrosion was removed and the Humidur FP brush industrial coating was applied in line with the manufacturers specifications. This includes atmospheric and surface condition monitoring, salt testing, profile testing and dust testing to provide an exceptional result and ongoing protection for the ship loaders.

  • Structural welding and the installation of compensation plating inline with structural engineers directions.

Where directed compensation plates were welded onto the structure to aid in the extension of life for years to come. Once welding was completed, industrial coatings were applied to provide ongoing corrosion protection to the newly repaired areas.

  • Replacement of structural assemblies .

Following a ‘hot bolt process’ structural bolts showing signs of corrosion were replaced one at a time to ensure the ongoing serviceability of the structure. Technicians used a large 1in drive, 12kg cordless impact wrench to crack the corroded bolts, with new bolts hand torqued to the required spec to avoid damaging the galvanised coating and extend the life of the asset.

Not only do we provide safe access to the work front, we also complete the trade task.
